Colorado

♥ Garden of the Gods

We took 10 days and explored Colorado because it is one of our favorite states  We have family that goes away every summer and allows us to stay at their place in Denver, so we use this as a "home base" for many of our trips out west every year. Colorado is an amazing state with so many things to do. Colorado is one of our most favorite states.

Day 1. Mount Evans. The highest paved road in North America at over 14,000 ft.

If you seek adventure, you must drive to the top.
(We have gone to the top twice). There are no guard rails and it is the scariest drive I have ever been on. We do bring the oxygen tanks with us you can buy at the gas stations. I 100% recommend going
up but it is scary at times. I might scream 30% of the time, still it is worth it and I would go again. Also, you little ones might
get Altitude Sickness. 2 of our 5 do. It is a headache and extreme fatigue. This only happens at the VERY top. It goes away when we start going down. We give ourselves about 4 hours. Bring drinks, snacks and a jacket. The weather at the top is not the same at the bottom.   At the bottom near Echo Lake there is a restaurant with really good food, pies and gifts.
